ABOUT ME
Shawn Leis, P.T. &
Private Practice Business Owner
I’m Shawn Leis, a pediatric physical therapist and the founder of Little Feet Therapy. For over 15 years, I’ve dedicated my career to helping infants and children reach their fullest potential—clinically, developmentally, and emotionally. My passion lies in early detection of neurodevelopmental conditions, and I specialize in working with complex cases including cerebral palsy, motor delays, sensory integration challenges, and infant feeding concerns.
I’m certified in advanced assessments like the General Movement Assessment (GMA), Hammersmith Infant Neurological Examination (HINE), and the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM), which allow me to identify subtle signs of atypical development and intervene early with precision and care.
Alongside my clinical work, I’ve spent the past seven years successfully owning and operating pediatric therapy practices across two U.S. states. I’ve built programs from the ground up—developing teams, designing services, managing operations, and leading outreach efforts that connect families with the care they deserve.
My business model has allowed me to stay true to my values, cultivate a healthy work-life balance, and build a stable future for my family.
MY APPROACH
Passion, Balance, and Success
After years of working in various clinics, I found myself burned out, frustrated, and disheartened. To put it bluntly—I was tired of watching productivity take priority over people. I knew there had to be a better way. So I took a leap and ventured out on my own, determined to create a space where both families and therapists felt truly supported. That’s when Little Feet Therapy was born.
At the time, I was living in Charlotte, NC, and grew the practice from a solo operation to a team of six therapists in under two years. It was a time of growth, connection, and purpose. Then life threw us a curveball—my husband’s job relocated our family to Washington, DC. Initially, I planned to manage the Charlotte practice remotely, but within six months, my passion for working directly with children and families pulled me back in. I opened Little Feet Therapy in DC, and since then, I’ve grown that practice to six therapists and added an office manager to support our expanding team. Looking back on the growth of my business, I’m filled with gratitude and pride—what began as a leap of faith has evolved into a thriving, purpose-driven practice that reflects not only my clinical values, but the deep trust families and therapists have placed in me and my work.
What I am most proud of is that through the business I’ve built, I’ve stayed true to what matters most—serving families with compassion, creating space for meaningful work, providing a supportive environment for therapists to grow, and building a life that supports both my purpose and my family’s future. That is why I am here, I want to help others find their balance, follow their purpose, lean into their passion, and build the business that is right for them.
